What your talking about seems pretty common. Neighbor bought a 12 row 2200 series. We bought his old 883. After the first year with his 12 row, he required at least one new gear box. Ofter 3 years, he keeps gathering chains and idler sprockets on hand. Our old 883 does about 500 acres a year, and is pretty trouble free, except for the roll keys in the drive sprockets, which we're just replacing with bolts. Grease the Bushings twice a day, check the gearboxes once a week and let her fly. I'd like to find a good 1083, but I'm not interested in getting any newer. Beats me why they didn't use IH's design. I think there's a reason NH didn't sell many combines in North America!
