I have an IH 82 combine and am trying to combine small grains with it. It was used to combine edible beans for years and has a spring tooth cylinder in it. I combined oats last year with ok success. I am trying to get my rye combined this year with ok success. I do not think it cleans as good as it should. Quite a bit of straw joints and small pieces of straw in grain. I am thinking that the spring tooth cylinder breaks the straw up to much. What are my options with this machine? The best ive found is open air up all the way and close chaffer down. If this combine wont work for me i need to find something else.
