We harvest around 5500 acres and traded 2 JD's (one CTS2 and one 9600) for a Lex 480 for harvest of '99. Have been very pleased with capacity, performance and durability (have yet to shut down for a repair).
A R72 will run close to a 480 in dry short straw cond., when it gets tougher out the difference get big in a hurry. We run in Canada and use a 30ft flex head for peas and lentils and a 39ft draper table for cereals.
