Just a follow up to the previous post. It turns out the pilot bearing in the flywheel that connects to the transmission input shaft went bad. We also changed the clutch plate because the splines on it were almost worn out as well as the throw out bearing while we were in there (it was going bad too). As this unit has just over 3500 hours on it I would advise anyone with a machine of this vintage to check and/or replace the above components.
