It is probably a good idea to change to the the smooth feed accelerator plates. I changed mine to the smooth and haven't looked back. I never did run the serated plates in the beans. I even run the smooth plates in wheat, and haven't had any trouble yet. All I change on the feed accelerator is the speed, slow for beans. I also run a slow down kit on my machine. It slows the augers and elevator to help keep damage down. The downside to the slow down kit is the yield monitor won't work because the speed is too low. The only other mod that I have made was to add a belt unloader. Makes a world of difference in the amount of crack and makes clean down between varieties very easy.
