Questions from way back... Ray Steukle's book

Has anyone ever heard of or seen a stepped grain pan in the shoe of a combine to move the clean grain to the auger faster? In the book Combine Settings For Better Harvesting they mention it. They called it a "ripple tin" and the movement of the shoe with the steps in the grain pan would force the grain forward to the auger. I have a K and it can shell corn a lot faster than it can get it to the bin.
