In some areas in south eastern Australia,we have big problems with walking grain out. The flat area, under the beater, on the L2 concave, was cut out and a cell grate made of 1"x1/8 flat on edge, on about 1"spacings was made,to fit the concave frame. Filler bars were made to fit in case the idea did'nt work. They were used once, briefly, returning the L2 to original specs. There was a capacity (speed) increase of about of about 15% plus, in wheat and barley with the filler bars out, ie. open cell grate, for the same walker loss. Sieves handled the extra load with no problems. Filler bars were put in/out by climbing thru the panel on the LH side. That was 25 years and 65 lbs ago. This may help!
