Gleaner K buckwheat

Anyone have experience with the K in buckwheat? I know the book says you need the screens, but I seem to have some luck with the sieve closed and the chaffer at 1/2". I'm getting a lot of shatter, even with the cylinder opened up to 3/8. Any suggestions?

P.S. Anyone with a scourkleen available?
