How are you supposed to replace the fiber piston ring seals for a hydraulic cylinder without breaking them?
The factory assembled rings aren't broken.
I've tried heating the fiber rings with a hair dryer, heat gun, boiling them in water in an attempt to make them pliable enough to stretch over the piston and into the grooves without breaking them, all to no avail.
Do I need to boil them in oil?
To what temperature must they be raised?
Or am I doing something wrong?
