I've got an 8780xp with serious lack of power. After changing fuel filters and cleaning the inline filter the situation did not improve. I got a Cummins mechanic to come out with a laptop and run diagnostics. The result was a failed front solenoid on the injection pump. Cummins has discontinued this line and sold it to Case IH. Case IH does not list this solenoid seperatly. They will sell a top half of the injection pump which includes both solenoids for $1590. According to the mechanic just because the diagnostics say it is the front solenoid it could be the pump is not delivering fuel to the front solenoid. Case IH will sell me a complete pump for $5500 minus an undisclosed core price. I have called injection pump repair places to be told it would be at least a week to overhaul what I have. The last guy I called just got off the phone with a Case IH dealer that was looking for a cheaper way to help one of his customers than to buy the stuff from Case IH! Any suggestions?
