I had trouble with the power steering on my 850,and they are very similar in many respects. What it turned out to be was that the main Hydraulic pump has two sections . The main section controls most hydraulic functions and the small section provides the supply for only the power steering. The seat in the bottom of the orfice on the pressure side stripped so I still had oil flow but not enough pressure to aid in steering. If this is your problem it is the pump located on your left when you open the hood facing the front of the engine driven by a v belt off of the crankshaft pulley. I had to replace my pump.
